The challenge

As co-founder and graphic designer for this passion project – which I began with my twin sister Abbie Cohen (co-founder, copywriter and interviewer) during our university years – I was actively involved from sourcing contributions to designing and artworking each issue which was released on Issuu.

Design takeaways

  • A passion project which stirred business acumen. NeverLazy Magazine was a project I co-launched with my sister when I was still a Graphic Design student in my first year. I was very much keen to begin a self-initiated design project back then, and looking back now, I realise that it helped me tremendously not only with honing my editorial design skills over the months and years, but also with self-confidence and keenness to network and learn from other like-minded creatives around the world.

  • Early exposure to social media marketing and management. Even though Instagram and Facebook were still in their infancy as strategic platforms for digital growth back in the early 2010s, they were still important channels for the magazine to reach new audiences – readers and contributors alike – so we made sure to use them accordingly.
